Interfaith Event: The Inner Trail of Faith

We here at CSCA believe interfaith dialogue is very important because it develops a better understanding between all the religions in our society. Further it will strengthen cooperation and help people of different faiths to co-exist peacefully.

We are happy to announce that CSCA in partnership with St Lawrence’s Church have set up a new bi monthly initiative. Where people come together to speak about religion, community, and of course share food!

We believe this will help us generate a greater understanding of the other, increase mutual respect, help build on mutual values and an opportunity to make new friends.

The first event will be held at the CSCA centre on the 26th April at 1.00pm. Full details are on the poster. All are most welcome.

Shaykh Ahmad Saad

Shaykh Ahmad Muhammad Saad Ash-Shafi’i Al-Azhari Al-Hasani was born into a family of scholars whose lineage goes back to the Prophet (May Allah’s salutations and peace be upon him) through Sayyidna Al-Hasan ibn Ali (radia Allahu anhu) in the northern Egyptian governorate of Monofiyyah, in the Nile Delta. Many great scholars of Islam have come from this governorate including people like Shaykh Al-Islam Ibrahim Al-Bayjouri, Imam Tajuddin As-Subki and Taqiyuddin As-Subki, Shaykh Al-Islam Ash-Shanawani and many others. As the custom of the family was to memorise Qur’an at an early age, Shaykh Saad completed the memorisation of the Holy Qur’an at the age of ten at the hands of his father and studied basic Arabic and Islamic sciences with focus on Arabic grammar and balaghah (rhetoric) before enrolling into Al-Azhar system of schools where he spent almost 17 years of his life graduating with a B.A. Honours in Islamic Studies in English.

CSCA unequivocally condemns the actions of ‘Muslim Patrols’

[div style=”text-align:justify”]The Centre for Spirituality and Cultural Advancement unequivocally condemns the actions of a small amount of individuals involved in the Towel Hamlets ‘Muslim Patrol’ debacle.

Their actions of harassing people at night and claiming for certain areas to be ‘Muslim territory’ is not only absurd but will only further increase the worrisome rise in anti- Muslim prejudice.  This latest incident highlights the on-going threat posed by militant networks that foment intolerance and espouse a narrow, destructive worldview.

We utterly condemn and deplore such behaviour- It does not represent Islam or the majority of mainstream Muslims. We join the law-abiding, mainstream Muslims throughout the country who are horrified by these despicable acts of violence and harassment and hope its perpetrators are brought to justice.

CSCA implores all faith communities to step up their efforts to promote mutual understanding, respect and encourage peaceful dialogue with one another.

CSCA hosts an interfaith Christmas buffet

The CSCA celebrated the coming of Christmas in collaboration with the Bedfont Church on Sunday 16th December 2012. The event brought many multicultural and faith people together. This year, the CSCA as part of the initiative called A Year of Service encouraged people to come together to celebrate the coming of Christmas. The CSCA worked together with the Bedfont Church to help decorate the David Henry Wearing Home with lights and decorations. Gift food boxes were created for the elderly Christian people at the David Henry Wearing Home in Feltham. The gift boxes contained important supplies, such as toiletries, hats and gloves that are ideal to have during the winter period. The residents were very overwhelmed and grateful for their gifts.

Christmas3The CSCA put on a lavish buffet for everyone to enjoy, members from the CSCA spent the afternoon enjoying the buffet and speaking with the residents at the David Henry Wearing Home about social issues that concerned them. One of CSCA’s objectives is to give people the opportunity to talk, make friends, and encourages positive relationships with people from different backgrounds. The CSCA beliefs in the importance of promoting dialogue between followers of different faiths and cultures in order to create understanding and make use of their synergy for the progress and prosperity of the whole community. The interfaith buffet gave opportunity to people from two major faiths to work together on such a noble cause to benefit important members of our community; the elderly and was a step in building social ties through such an important social action.

Christmas4Our aim is to promote inter faith social action in order to promote peaceful coexistence among the followers of different religions and cultures, showing faith as a catalyst for good relationships with each other and the wider society. The CSCA encourages inter faith social action as this a essential component to understand the similarities of the various faiths and cultures and strengthen cooperation among people.

The CSCA will be organising many social action based programmes and everyone is most welcome to get involved. Please email info@spiritandculture.org.uk if you are interested in partaking in any of the programmes or activities we organise. We will be posting more details about specific programmes or activities near the time they take place.
